Bolstering Your Personal Brand with One Cubicle
Tonight I had the honor to meet Gregg Champion, founder of One Cubicle, the social business network, and personal branding tool, for twenty somethings. Gregg Champion comes from a traditional marketing background, running Champion Media, a marketing/production firm that caters to huge companies like Mattel, Gap, Doritos, and more. Also, and I should have more on this later, he is an advocate of Social Media as effective marketing, and I am really excited that he granted me a chance to interview him, stay tuned for that blog (or maybe vlog?) coming soon. But it’s his new work, his venture into Social Media that really grabbed my attention.
Gregg saw a gap in the LinkedIn plan, and it’s a gap that I hadn’t seen. He realized that LinkedIn caters to people making six figures, people already set in jobs looking to move into bigger and better positions, and he saw that getting your FIRST job through LinkedIn was nigh on impossible. His new Social Network looks to remedy that situation by creating an exciting business networking site that caters to young adults, those of us getting out of school, and looking for that first “cool” job. He has hooked up with companies like…to bring exciting jobs, companies that we (young adults) can identify with.
More than just connecting us with starting jobs and internships, One Cubicle offers a wide variety of services to help jump-start your brand identity. Just to mention a few of the tools available to you:
- Celebrity Mentors
- Personal Branding
- Internships
- Volunteer Opportunities
- Resume Refiner
- Job Search
Tools like these are invaluable to everyone trying to transition from college life to professional life.
Watch the video to have Gregg explain it all to you:
So now I know what you are thinking, there’s a million other websites out there that already offer this service (and you are probably right.) I have a question for you though, how many of those websites offer you direct access to the CEO of the company, to ask any question you wish? Not many is the answer, and Gregg offers that. That’s a HUGE show of confidence in his system, along with a great promotion for all of the things that One Cubicle is. I mean you get access to a CEO your first day, awesome.
What it isn’t is a replacement for your personal branding efforts, its more like a supplement to what you are already doing. I’m sure you saw my post on Brand-Yourself, another personal branding website, and on Staying True to Your Brand, so you know I take this stuff seriously. As graduating college students we need all the help we can get, especially in this economy, and Gregg’s new Social Network is another tool that we can all add to our personal branding arsenal. Combining the tools that One Cubicle, Facebook, Blogging, and Brand-Yourself offer give you the best chance of finding not just a job, but also a job you want, right when you get out of school.
I could spend hours going over all the tools that are available to build and define your personal brand, but that would be a waste of my time and yours. I have offered up what I believe to be an amazing tool to work with to define who you are PROFESSIONALLY online, what other tools do YOU use?
